Yips

In YIPS you play as a detective investigating an AI lab where an experiment has gone horribly wrong, causing several scientists and participants to become infected with a virus. As a result of the AI virus, their appearance, voice, or words may have become altered. You must interview each individual, determine who is infected, and explain how the virus corrupted them. Our goal with this project was to use interactive media to explore how hard it is for a player to tell the difference between human and AI generated content. Our first step was creating 16 character concepts with each being either not infected or having a single symptom. Next, for the art in our project, while my team spent hours combing through artwork to find character portraits created by artists online, I used Bing's AI Chatbot to generate various distinct AI portraits. Afterwards, we went through and picked the best of each to use in the project. Then, for the dialogue, we split up the characters so that we each wrote lines for two from scratch and two using ChatGPT with the stipulation you could only have the AI regenerate a line up to 3 times per character. Finally for the voice acting, we used a combination of our own or our friends' recorded voice lines alongside AI voice lines spoken by voices trained using ElevenLabs based off our recordings. Additionally, I also created the dialogue system and UI for the game.
